Camp Amped After School
We have set the dates for our Fall 2010 session of Camp Amped After School, and it will run from August 19 to November 14! The entire group will meet every Thursday from 4:30-6:30, and there will be an additional rehearsal from 4:30-6:30 on a day that is yet to be determined. There will also be the option to participate in either the Full or Modified Program this semester.
So that everyone has a chance to participate in Camp Amped programs, we are offering priority registration to Camp Amped 2010 applicants who were waitlisted for the summer program. These students will have until July 12 to turn in their applications for Camp Amped After School to be considered for priority registration.
The way the application process will work for CAAS Fall 2010 will be that we will offer spots to waitlisted applicants for our summer program first. On July 12 we will release CAAS Fall 2010 to the Camp Amped mailing list and post them on our website for download.
As usual, the selection process includes a number of factors: There will be 20 spots available in CAAS Fall ’10, based on a proper balance of instrumentation (which means we will have 4 drummers, 4 bassists and at least 8 guitarists with the remaining spots open for keyboardists, vocalists, etc.). Students must have a basic knowledge of their instrument, and are highly encouraged to take private lessons independently or through the Full Program of CAAS. As always, a submitted application does NOT guarantee acceptance, but the earlier an application is turned in, the better. A student MUST be in good standing at their school in order to participate in CAAS, and it is important to remember that CAAS is a 13 week commitment and should be treated as any other extracurricular commitment like marching band or sports. Attendance is mandatory, as band mates are all counting on each other to be at rehearsal.
There will be a limited number of partial scholarships available, and those applications will be available upon request. Submission of a scholarship application does not guarantee a scholarship, nor does past receipt of scholarship funds.

Kris Langley: Television Buzz

Kris Langley, frontman for local band Television Buzz, died on January 30th – leaving behind a wife and child and many, many friends in the Athens music scene. Langley suffered from leukemia and was put into the ICU in mid-January after a viral infection in his lungs.
