Welcome to Nuci's Space

Nuçi's Space Student Organization Constitution

ARTICLE I: Name

The name of this organization shall be the Nuçi's Space Student Organization.

ARTICLE II: Purpose

The purpose of the Nuçi's Space Student Organization shall be to provide a link between the students of the University of Georgia and the non-profit musician's support/resource center Nuçi's Space. The group will organize and participate in mental health advocacy, as well as raising awareness about Nuçi's Space and its resource services.

ARTICLE III: Membership

a) In order to be a member of the Nuçi's Space Student Organization, one must have a clear understanding of what the Nuçi Phillips Memorial Foundation does. These things include counseling referrals for musicians, practice spaces for bands, a music venue, and a music community center.
b) Members must have a general understanding of mental disorders and their effects.
c) Members must be interested in volunteering and participating in mental health advocacy.
d) Membership shall not be denied to any person because of age, race, sex, religion, handicap, national origin, or sexuality.

ARTICLE IV: Dues and Payment

There are no membership dues for this group.

ARTICLE V: Officers

The Nuçi's Space Student Organization will have three officers, two of which will be co-leaders, and the other will be the secretary. The duration of all positions will be one school year (consisting of fall and spring semester). If an office is vacant, either because the former office-holder resigned, or because the group decided against their continuance in the position, the group will do whatever it can to have a majority vote in order to put someone in office.

ARTICLE VI: Meetings

The co-leaders have the authority to call meetings; however, all group members will be notified either by phone or via e-mail. Otherwise, meeting times will be set by the group.

ARTICLE VII: Quorum

We do not have a maximum membership number. Also, there is no set minimum number of members who must be present to have a previously announced meeting. However, in order to make important decisions and/or vote for officers, the group must attempt to have the maximum number of group members present in order to ensure fairness.

ARTICLE VIII: Amendments

Amendments of this constitution must be agreed upon by the executive committee (the co-leaders and the secretary), and then will be voted on by the group. A majority vote must occur, and at least 2/3 of the group must be present. Either group members or the executive committee may suggest a possible amendment.

Article IX: Ratification

Draft of this constitution shall be submitted to the Executive Committee. After agreed-upon changes, this constitution shall be reviewed at our next meeting by the group members. After we have talked about the constitution, if no suggestions have been made, this Constitution shall stand until majority vote at the next meeting has been collected.
BY-LAWS:

1) Once a leader is voted into office, the term is one year. However, if the officer does not do her/his job in a manner that satisfies the group, whether that inadequacy lies in lack of preparation or lack of attendance at events, etc., the group reserves the right to vote the leader out of office. As stated earlier, the maximum number of group members possible must vote in order to produce a fair, non-partial result.
2) Group members have the right to view budget information of the Nuçi's Space Student Organization.
3) Group members have the right to question leadership decisions and to state their opinions on the matter, and even bring the decision to a vote if necessary.
4) Members must attend at least fifty percent of the volunteer/advocacy activities in order to be considered full-time members of the group.
5) Group members must respect the privacy of fellow-members, as well as any people who are referred to the services of Nuçi's Space for counseling.
