Dear Parents and potential CAAS Participants:

We have set the dates for our Spring 2010 session of Camp Amped After School, and it will run from February 4 to May 2! The entire group will meet every Thursday from 4:30-6:30, and each band will choose either Monday or Wednesday as their other rehearsal day. There will also be the option to participate in either the full or modified program this semester. For more details, please see the application.

To thank the parents and Camp Amped programs alumni for your continued support, we are giving past participants of the Camp Amped programs the first opportunity to apply for spots. By Camp Amped programs, we mean both past sessions of the Camp Amped summer program as well as CAAS Fall ’09. We will begin accepting applications today, and the deadline for applications from past campers will be January 4, 2010.

The way the application process will work for CAAS Spring 2010 will be that we will offer spots to past campers first, and if there are any spots left after January 4, enrollment will be opened to the general public. If there are still spots after January 4 and a past camper submits his/her application after this date, they will be placed in the pool with general applicants and will not receive priority consideration. We will be numbering applications as they arrive, so everyone is still encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible.

As usual, there will be 20 spots available in CAAS Spring ’10, based on a proper balance of instrumentation (which means we will have 4 drummers, 4 bassists and at least 8 guitarists with the remaining spots open for keyboardists, vocalists, etc.). Students must have a basic knowledge of their instrument, and are highly encouraged to take private lessons independently or through the full program of CAAS. As always, submitted application does NOT guarantee acceptance, and the earlier an application is turned in, the better. A student MUST be in good standing at their school in order to participate in CAAS, and it is important to remember that CAAS is a 13 week commitment and should be treated as any other extracurricular commitment like marching band or sports.

There will be a limited number of partial scholarships available, and those applications will be available upon request. Submission of a scholarship application does not guarantee a scholarship, nor does past receipt of scholarship funds.

We encourage you to share this information with other parents of young musicians who have not yet participated in a Camp Amped program. However, those applications will be numbered and placed aside, and not considered until after the January 4th deadline for previous participants. If there are still spots available after this deadline, applications will be reviewed in the order they were received.

Even if the child is not able to participate in the Spring session of CAAS, they will be placed on our Camp Amped mailing list and will receive updates such as session dates, application periods and deadlines for the Camp Amped summer program and future CAAS sessions.

I know this may seem like a lot of information, but we want to be completely fair and transparent in our acceptance process and we feel that sharing this information with you is the best way to communicate our policies. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email me or call me at Nuçi’s Space between 10 and 6 M-F (706.227.1515).
